Lauren...Lauren...Lauren...Lauren...Lauren...Lauren...
"My friends come from all walks of life. Rich and poor,
famous and obscure. I like them all for different reasons."
Lauren Field.

Q:
Which faces attract you
most? Faces that catch you attention ?
A: The eyes have it! Q: What do you notice first about people?
A: A winning smile
or the lack of one.
Q: And what people FIRST notice about you?
A: My winning smile!
Q: While performing, do you look at your fans, at their faces,
exchange expressions with them or you just focus on your artistic
performance? How do you do it? The Field's way?
A: I look at the audience and make contact with them without fixing
my gaze on any one person. That would make them uncomfortable. I do like
small clubs because the atmosphere is intimate and I feel as though I am
chatting with the crowd through my songs. Theatres have a different vibe.
More formal. Though I still try to treat the audience like friends.
Q: What do you see in people? All kind of people, fans, admirers,
business associates, famous and obscure ones?
A: That's a difficult question because people are all so different.
Obviously, if it's someone I don't know then I am having to make a judgment
based on appearance only. I would say, that I like people, generally. I
would rather be with friends than alone. I usually expect to like people and
make friends easily. If I don't like someone it's usually fairly instant and
intuitive and my first impressions are rarely wrong. My friends come from
all walks of life. Rich and poor, famous and obscure. I like them all for
different reasons. Q: What makes you
mad? A: Rudeness, inconsiderate
behaviour, and people who are unreliable. And a zillion other things on a
daily basis. Q: And do you make people mad at You? A: Last week my husband threw a cup of coffee at me! I think he was mad
at me! (He missed! Ha!) Q: What do you do to make them mad? A: Open my mouth.
Q: Is music to you an art
expression, a talent, a universal language, a therapy or a way of making a
leaving? A: All of the above. And I am very
thankful to have been able to make a living out of something I love to do so
much. Q: Many talented but unfortunate artists fear a lot of things in life,
particularly rejection, career failure, financial difficulties, etc. What
the very talented Lauren fears most in life? A: I think it's true to say that as
an artist one struggles for so many years to make ends meet that it's
difficult to shake off the constant stress of impending financial
insolvency. Even when things are going well, that is something that never
leaves me and I have heard so many successful and sometimes fantastically
wealthy people say that. I think the very nature of us creative types is
that we are temperamental, highly strung worriers! Q: Did you write about it in your music and lyrics?
A: Actually no. I tried to write a song about worrying once because
it is so much a part of my life but I just couldn't. I guess it's the main
thing I would change about myself if I could. It's negative, destructive and
it diminishes me. I couldn't set it to music. Q: What did you write? A: I tend not to write about fear.
More about aspiration, and affairs of the heart. Troubles, heartache, but
not fear.
