Hilda Hiary: Innovative Visionary with intelligent compositional expressions.

Beads of thoughts and complex micro forms in quasi organic and mechanical structure, sometimes autonomous and some other time evolving with precision. Hiary’s style might not reflect lyrical warmth or breeze of romanticism but, most certainly, it makes you think. Would this lead us to assume that Hiary’s style is alert and mature, perhaps intellectual-organic? Possibly. This is a complex and perplex artistic expression, active and constantly evolving, for you cannot define a beginning nor a finish line while you are racing with her colors and mini structural cosmos. I would have never guessed that this art is the product of a female artist who comes from an exotic land such as Jordan. And this puzzles me. For, I have to quest for new lexicology and epistemology to describe the concept and images of her most unusual compositional creativity. To understand Hiary’s art, you must assimilate her strategy. But does art has strategy? Is art a puzzle, an enigma, a “scrabble”? Or is it a personal expression of inner feelings? Hiary claims that her art is a personal and intimate expression. So we have to take her word for granted.What attracted my attention was the liberty Hiary takes in structuring and disposing of her organic geometry. For instance, upon looking at the painting below, one aspect of her artistic composition strikes you. It is the fragile and elegant division she created between two parts of her canvas. And you don’t expect this in a Hiary’s painting. It comes like a refreshing surprise.

Hiary did it with intelligence, innocent elegance and artistic autonomy. Usually, This constructional division does not dominate nor illustrate her genre, for rarely we encounter such repartition in her other works. Was it intentional or just a free artistic act similar to Andre Gide “L’Acte Gratuit”? It makes you wonder. And when you begin to wonder, you began to think. And you begin to think before an artwork, your interest in learning more about the artist techniques intensifies. And that is good, for it stimulates your mind and awakes you eyes on new esthetical interpretation and multi-dimensional artistic sphere. And the art of Hiary does this! In her real life, Hilda Hiary seems to be a sophisticated and elegant lady. I wish if this elegance had visited her canvases. However, the lack of refined strokes does not diminish the intensity and the finesse of her work. For, it we do carefully sail into the lines, the curves, the circles and escapades of her strokes, we will sense delicate feelings and a hidden elegant emotion. Hiary took the liberty to reveal her inner feeling in organic and mechanical forms. So it be. It is her world and let’s invade it with courage and open mind. Despite the apparent techno-avant garde aspect of her work, her canvases reveal comforting intimacy, delicate movement and sweetly tender imagery. Those miniscule, fragile and perplex dots, circles, cylinders, tubes and geo-cosmic entities dispersed on the landscape of her infinite art appear before my eyes like a tender dispersion of secretive journeys and visits to universes with one million rainbows, horizons and firmaments. Hiary art is captivating and meaningful for it attracts the interest and attention of the adult and simultaneously flirt with the colorful innocence of the “child” in us. It is an honest art.
